Pink Mission #5 Sunday 22nd January

Today is a non training day! I now have 6 days before I fight on Tiger Muay Thai's BBQ Beatdown 44. This is a monthly fight show that Tiger hold at their camp.

Not sure who my match up is with as of yet but my training has now been reduced to 1hr private plus cardio instead of doing 2 classes each day.

Last night I couldn't sleep... I then start thinking about combinations and what if ? fighting scenarios with my unknown opponent...I'm sure this is mental preparation and happens to everyone but it does get annoying that the brain decides to do all of this thinking when you are actually trying to sleep.

I have managed to skip chess lessons!

Had a great day sunbathing it was nice to chillax beside the pool and soak up the sun.

Pink Mission #5 Fatima Pinto - Female Fighter

Today I was very lazy and had some sunbathing time by the pool instead of clinch training. This afternoon I had a gruelling chess lesson with Andy... To the point I was going to cry as I cannot remember all of the differing scenarios and tactics.... I let off some steam in a boxing 121 session at Tiger Muay Thai.

After training I noticed a fabulous looking and very strong, shapely Muay Thai female fighter. This lady did the most beautiful Wai Kru I have ever seen!... She was being filmed by a camera crew so I sat aside and watched them for a while. (I probably looked like a stalker lol) She was so friendly came over and spoke to me, we talked about training and she said she was from Norway, had 22 MT fights and was looking at fighting in MMA very soon too. At 33 years of age I think she looks amazing.

The camera crew were also lovely and I was very privileged to have a couple of snaps taken by them :0)

Every one... this is Me with Fatima Pinto - Muay Thai fighter from Norway fights at 51kg soon to start fighting at 55kg.

Pink Mission #5 14th Jan 2012

Today my leg was much better although I had an exhausting 121 first thing. My trainer decided we should spar and as always the Thai's will get the better of you with the kicks and punches, so... I got in close and went for clinching! ... as my trainer had never done this in any of my lessons he found it quite amusing how I quite happily neck wrestled with him and dug in the knees, we ended up doing this for about 20mins which used up all my energy for the rest of the session! I was so tired today and only lasting 2-3mins on the pads but it was warmer too!

There are photos below which are before and after shots :0).

At 4pm I decided to come back for the class, I've had to miss them all this week due to a knee injury and the risk of someone kicking it in sparring... Class was busy and went really well, we all did the full Wai Kru at the end too ... It's getting there... Me and choreography don't mix lol.

Training 10th January 2012

Today I had a 121 session as due to nagging injury in knee from last week I didn't want to risk further injury in sparring. My Trainer is called "Thai" makes it simple for me not to forget his name anyway lol.

Here is some footage of my session

Warm up combos/Technique

Pads
Muay Thai Session with "Thai"

I finished off with
1min punches on bag
1min uppers
200 Teep kicks
50 full sit ups
50 medicine ball drops on my tummy

Only a light one :0)

I then finished day off with a few light kettle bell squats in the weights room followed by a Thai massage... Which was amazing!

Pink Training Machine Diet in Thailand

Yes I'm on holiday but if you don't eat the right food you do not have the right energy to train or stay in shape! Some days it's 4-6 hrs of conditioning with the training sessions!

Breakfast depends if I'm training at 8am, if so then I have a protein shake at 7am ... If not, then it's oats mixed with watermelon, pineapple, banana and natural yogurt.

I would then have a protein shake a couple of hours later if not already had at 7am or the oats as above after training at 11am.

Late morning/early lunch
3 eggs scrambled and small fruit platter

Late Lunch - Chicken with basil leaves and a fried egg (no rice)

Mid-late afternoon
Protein shake

8pm Evening meal
Large chicken breasts served with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and another small fruit plate - I sometimes like chicken with cashew nuts and spring onions too!

Drinks - 2-3 large bottles of water
1-2 coffees
Coconut juice
Watermelon juice
4 sachets of electrolytes

On Saturdays I will have a treat meal - maybe something with chips or just a chocolate sundae... Then back on to my proper food! ;0)

Pink Mission #5 Sunday 8th Jan 2012

Today was a pretty bad day in terms of aches and pains .... Typical that I discuss my ME illness from the past and today I woke up with all my joints in agony! After downing lots of pain relief and I mean all sorts I was still aching and lying awake think omg! Andy was trying to teach me chess and I was just so frustrated and could not concentrate... After taking a sleeping tablet I woke up 5 hrs later ... Much better :0) Yesterday I ate a cheat meal which consisted of bread=wheat= pain .... No more not even on my cheat days its not worth it;(

This evening we got out and ventured the Phuket night Market ... Too busy for my liking but we have done it! Back to bed so good night and have a wonderful Sunday x

Pink Mission #5 Saturday 7th January 2012

Today I got up again at 7am to train Muay Thai at Tiger especially for the Wai Kru Session! On top of that I had some really good sparring partners today so loved it... Tried to have a chess lesson with Andy but not very productive as I was tired and my brain felt more like heavy old dripping mop than a sponge. Did some reading and then off to training at Phuket Top Team for the BJJ open mat... Saturday night sparring in Chalong... "Ting Tong" ( that by the way is mad in Thai) Here's Andy waiting to get warmed up and roll.

Pink Mission #5 Friday 6th January

This am I had officially bunked off training, I've got three nagging pains/ minor injuries so listened to body and took time out from the hard stuff. I ventured to pharmacy and purchased some" Spirulina" apparently this is the herbal energy pill people use here to keep going. It's produced in Bangkok so I'm hoping this is actually legal. lol

Sat by the pool and sunbathed for most of the day and 3.30pm left for training @ Tiger Muay Thai 4pm-6.30pm
It was great fun, met some new people and sparred with my mad MMA friend Tania Cinquini who unfortunately bumped her knee again :( we are so alike in the fact we keep over training! I feel her frustration it costs a lot of money to fly here! Excited as for first time Tiger is running Saturday classes again with the Wai Kru included in the session... Yay! More choreography lol.

PInk Mission #5 Thursday 5th January 2012

Not much to report from today except that the early Thai Boxing class hurt and by the time I'd got to the NoGi BJJ session I was pretty much brain dead... However I did find it amusing how some people are assuming I'm on what's called out here"the Juice".

Like a PT said why don't you ask her before assuming. He was polite enough to!

I started weight training at the age of 19 (I loved the figure and fitness shows in body building comps and that was my inspiration when training) my diet for 3 years was porridge and water, tuna, chicken, rice and veg... I trained 6 days a week with weights and 3 days a week 30 mins steady cardio. I weighed 9st3 by the age of 25 I started to enjoy my cardio and took part in half marathons, I added daily 6km runs to my weekly weights routine and my strict diet. Yes I cheated at weekends with Pizza and alcohol.

In 2005 i was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder and later in 2006 Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME) I was put out of action/I'll for over 2-3 years, As time went by I still tried to train as in the end I ached regardless and my weight was always increasing despite not eating very much. In March 2008 I decided to make some life changes, I moved out of Exeter to ensure I could finish my uni studies and try and get around the CFS, I'd get up everyday and go for a small run, I changed my diet so that I did not eat any rice, pasta, bread or potatoes, I have also not touched alcohol for 3-4 years. I now live off a high protein, high fat diet with Fruit and veggies as my carbs... Getting over that illness was such a relief and I feel for those who still suffer, my attitude ever since is if I got it again I'd be gutted I didn't do as much training as possible, I make the most of every single day in training as that is what keeps me fit and Healthy, so if you work out 20 years of pretty much solid training and strict high protein, high fat dieting, what would you look like? do you have the right to accuse others of being on something when you have lived off crisps, chocolates, cakes and pizzas and not actually gone hungry just had a fad diet and giving up by eating a bag of donuts!

As a friend and I have always said "train as if your a royal marine and you will look like one and be like one... Fit and strong and ready for anything physically and metally!

Pink Mission #5 Weds 4th Jan 2012

Boxing Training this am with Coach Silviu followed by BJJ, today I got to play with the Awesome Tanya Cinquni - blue belt (1tab) she's a tough bird!

The session was hard our professor made us pass the guard with one hand and the person on the bottom was also only allowed to use one hand. Me =Mess lol.

2pm I'm sitting by the pool catching some Sun... Suprisingly it's so hot here you do not really sunbathe very long especially if training later as you end up being really dehydrated! I'm tanking down 3-4x 1.5litre bottles of water per day, taking B12shots and electrolytes... It's hard to keep up... If you get lazy with food and drink it doesn't take long before your to tired in training.

This evening I decided to go to Top Team for their Muay Thai Class instead of Tiger - the instructor is Robert who also helps with the boxing class. He taught me to skip properly rather than doubling up on both feet all of the time. The class at Top Team was awesome, the numbers are lower and the instructors were all really good, they worked with everyone on technique, beginners, intermediate and advanced they cater for the class as a whole. They are very technical but still make you do your conditioning and Robert also has a small Bamboo Stick lol.

The warm up was pretty intense followed by 3 pad rounds, 3 bag rounds then sparring. This time I had to do 200 knees on the bag 500 sit ups, 50 press ups. When I was doing pad work I was very nearly sick lol... 3 classes in one day is considered too much I know but we only have a few weeks to grab as much knowledge and technique as we can. Everyday I'm learning something new and the conditioning should improve my ability in competitions. I've weighed in at 54kg today.

Here's some info on Robert who's a coach and trains full time.

Pink Mission # 5 Tuesday 3rd Jan 2012

Today I met a Muay Thai fighter who fought and lost to Julie Kitchen 4 years ago... she says she would like to fight her again this year.  Her name is Chantelle.

Watched Andy in the MMA class and My friend Tanya - she's awesome

At 12.30 we met up and decided to go shopping in Patong, unfortunately Tania had list her cash card so we had a long process of finding a bank that was open as in Thailand they close longer for new years. After lots of queuing and waiting we realised she only had to go to an travel exchange booth with her passport.

The beaches are huge and they have huge shopping malls with lots of stalls and shops inside. Outside the streets are so busy with traffic and people. If you seen Hangover2 which shows bangkok this gives you a good idea!
Really wanted to get back for training and by this time it was 3pm - travelled back for 4pm and by the time I actually had something to eat I fell asleep and didn't wake up until 8pm... Oops missed all training sessions. So I hate more food had another chess lesson and fell asleep by 10pm - must have needed it.
